ITEC and Applus+ LGAI unite to promote and facilitate innovation for construction companies. Both organizations sign an agreement to streamline the certification of innovative construction systems and products (DAU and DITE).
March 27, 2012 - Applus+, a global inspections, testing, certification and quality control company, and the Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya-ITEC have signed an agreement to offer companies an integral service for obtaining certification for non-traditional and innovative construction systems or products. The pact will streamline obtaining the necessary documents and certifications and will allow manufacturers to have a single intermediary to carry out the entire certification process of their product, as well as the corresponding tests and inspections.
On the one hand, companies in the construction industry will be able to obtain the European Technical Suitability Document (DITE) and the resulting CE Mark, necessary for product certification. On the other, they will obtain voluntary certification that the Adequacy for Use Document (Documento de Adecuación al Uso, DAU), which has become a recognized document for the application of the Technical Building Code (Código Técnico de la Edificación, CTE), as well as for promoters, control bodies and project management.
The construction industry is introducing new technologies and benefits in its products, orienting itself toward innovative construction systems that require a different regulatory certification framework.
In the light of this trend, the agreement between ITEC and Applus+ is destined to give better technological support to companies that manufacture construction products, bringing together both organizations' experience and knowledge. The client will thus have access to a broader range of services for certification and support for product development, which will allow for the optimization of these processes' costs and terms. This agreement will facilitate the evolution of the industry toward innovation and technological development, validating the technical suitability of new products.
